About Me
Hi, my name is Mark Hutcheon and I live with my wife and two children in Sevenoaks, Kent. I retired from Kent Police after 30 years serving the public. During this time, I was fortunate enough to receive intensive driver training qualifying as a Police Class 1 Advanced Driver.
I take great pride in maintaining the skills and standards that I was taught, and I decided to use these skills to assist other people to either learn to drive or to improve their driving standards. I therefore undertook the necessary training to become an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).
Driving is truly a skill for life that has the potential to safeguard not only your life but that of your loved ones and other road users. Whilst being a competent and careful driver is an essential skill for any driving instructor, you also need to understand and listen to your clients in order to understand how they prefer to learn to ensure your lesson planning is tailored to their needs.
As a trained Police Negotiator, I am trained to use Active Listening Skills (ALS) to identify key information from clients that allows a bespoke training plan to be built and developed.
The car
I use a 2017 registration BMW 1 series. This is a 5-door vehicle that is an excellent car to learn in. It has good all-round visibility with adjustable seat height and steering column to make sure it is comfortable for each client.
